"There's huge value to providing an open source-based solution that is often overlooked in the marketplace: proprietary software vendors often pass along the entire cost of R&D to consumers - this doesn't happen with the open source-based model," said James Chinn, Shadow-Soft's managing partner. "CFEngine's open source-based solution, Nova 2.0 is developed from global peer reviews and actual usage - only the best ideas are skimmed off the top and implemented into product development. That's what differentiates Nova 2.0 from the competition and the huge value that makes us excited to work with CFEngine."
CFEngine's Nova 2.0 solution will help Shadow-Soft customers more effectively align business services with IT operations by helping guarantee datacenters remain in their desired working state. Nova 2.0 runs without emulation or compatibility software on Linux, Unix, Macintosh and Windows platforms. The solution has a semantic Knowledge Map to provide an improved reporting style with new compliance troubleshooting and business value reports. Nova 2.0 also offers a single consistent cross-platform approach to software deployment and management.
"With the launch of Nova 2.0, we've introduced a new star into the server automation marketplace," said Thomas Ryd, CEO, CFEngine. "The solution is specifically designed to help resellers penetrate the Fortune 2000 market and elegantly address their datacenter challenges - traditional server configuration and compliance management as well as complex virtualized and cloud computing environments. Working together with Shadow-Soft, we are able to provide joint customers with new opportunities to fully align their IT infrastructure with business services."
