of building on state-of-the art software which has a long and noble history.
More than 15 years ago our co-founder and CTO, Mark Burgess released the first
version of Cfengine and changed the way system administration was carried out in
major companies everywhere.

Cfengine is open-source (GPL) software for configuring, monitoring and autonomically
maintaining computers; everything from a single computer to thousands of servers clustered
in huge data centres.

We believe the Cfengine software currently runs on up to a million computers all over the world. All kinds
of organizations are using Cfengine, from public institutions like universities and the military, to Fortune 100
companies in a variety of industries.
